Southern Utah & Northern Arizona

Some of the best hiking in the world can be found in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.  I felt it was necessary to create a special category for these combined locations because that is where I live, and there are so many hikes in this area.  Listed below are hikes and the cities they are the closest to.

A View of Lake Powell from the Chains

Chains and Hanging Gardens Hikes and Activities

An area known as the Chains is the closest place to access Lake Powell from Page, Arizona.  The area is great for swimming, fishing, and hiking.  The rock formations are beautiful, and the views of the water are spectacular.  You can also see great views of the Glen Canyon Dam and bridge.

The trail to the Hanging Gardens is in the same area. The Haning Gardens are unique colonies of plants that grow vertically out of the sandstone. They are able to grow because water is stored in the rocks above and moves down the cracks in the sandstone, providing a long-lasting, natural spring. It’s interesting to see such lush vegetation growing in the desert, especially in the summertime.
