In the past, Waterhole Canyon remained largely undiscovered, offering hikers the freedom to explore at their leisure upon purchasing a day permit from the Navajo Nation. However, the situation has changed significantly. Nowadays, Waterhole Canyon has gained immense popularity among tourists, leading to restrictions that require visitors to join guided tours for exploration.
