Black Canyon City, Arizona: Hike the Iconic Desert Landscape

If you love unique cacti and phenomenal sunsets, you need to hike the iconic desert landscape in Black Canyon, Arizona.  There are cacti everywhere in all shapes and sizes; it looks the the backdrop of a western movie set.  I have been to Black Canyon twice, and each time I hiked a different trail.  My first hike to Black Canyon was by coincidence; I was driving to Phoenix and had to stop.  I had never seen so many cool cacti, so I pulled over and found the High Desert Park Trail. The trail was short with great scenery; it was perfect for a quick impromptu.  The next time I went to Black Canyon, it was intentional. I wanted to take in more of the area.  On this trip, I hiked the Zig Zag Trail, and I stopped at a few random places to walk around and check things out.

Cool Hikes and Cacti

There are a lot of hikes in and around Black Canyon City, Arizona. Every trial I have been on has been secluded and well-maintained. My two favorite trails so far are the High Desert Park Trail and the Ziz Zag Trail. Each of the trails can be completed quickly and provide amazing views.
